Aberavon MP Condemns Remploy closures

Aberavon MP Dr Hywel Francis has deplored today’s announcement by the Conservative-Lib Dem coalition to close two-thirds of Remploy factories.
Dr Francis said,
‘Many of these factories are in Wales providing unique job opportunities to disabled people. The UK Government stands condemned for putting disabled people onto the dole queue at the worst possible time with the present on-going recession.
I joined the Remploy unions in handing in a petition of over 100,000 signatures to the Prime Minister before Christmas. The Government must listen to the public and halt these closures.’
