MP welcomes Lido consultation

25th June 2012

Aberavon MP Dr Hywel Francis has welcomed Neath Port Talbot Council’s four week consultation on its new plans for the Afan Lido.

Dr Francis said:

‘I am writing to the Council to thank them for agreeing to this extended consultation of four weeks. The people of Port Talbot and surrounding communities have an enormous affection for the Afan Lido’s sport and leisure facilities. It has played a big part in the lives of local families for many decades.

I urge everyone to submit their views on their hopes for the new building. I shall be doing so myself as the local Member of Parliament, and those views will be based on discussions I have had with local residents.

I know also that councillors are listening to the views of local residents.

I am also pleased to know that the Aberavon Constituency Labour Party will be submitting its views to the consultation.

It is very important that all of us as elected representatives listen to the concerns, hopes and aspirations of our electors so that we achieve a new Afan Lido of which everyone will be proud.’
