Praise in Parliament for local council

The Secretary of State for Wales Paul Murphy MP today praised in Parliament Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council's recently launched 'Clean Air Charter'.
Dr Hywel Francis MP for Aberavon also congratulated both the Corus steel plant in Port Talbot for its £70 million investment much of which will result in significant environmental improvement through reductions of CO2 emissions.
Dr Francis said,
'I was delighted that the Secretary of State for Wales paid full tribute to Corus and our Labour Council's initiatives to improve local air quality. I was also pleased that Corus' recent major investments were rightly recognized as helping to secure local employment'.
Dr Francis concluded
'The Secretary of State later informed me that he wished to visit the Corus Steel Plant at the earliest opportunity to discuss with the newly appointed Managing Director Mr Chaturvedi, to discuss future employment prospects in the Welsh Steel industry'.
