MP Praises Firefighters

Aberavon MP Hywel Francis visited the scene of the major fire at the Baglan Industrial Park to thank the firefighters for their prompt and professional action in dealing with what could have been a very serious incident.

Dr Francis said
"I wanted to personally thank all the firefighters who had succeeded in taking control of this major fire which was so close to thousands of homes, The M4, the Neath Port Talbot Hospital and many other local industrial sites.
I congratulated Steve Gamble, Crew Manager of the Port Talbot White Watch and asked him to convey my personal thanks and the gratitude from all my constituents for their action.
I also paid a visit to Superintendent Julian Williams of the South Wales Police to thank him for the excellent support he and his colleagues provided, particularly with traffic control in and around the M4.
I shall be discussing this incident at a meeting I shall be having with Chief Fire Officer Richard Smith of the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Authority."
