Welsh Lions remembered at Sports Lunch

Aberavon MP Dr Hywel Francis presented an historic photograph to British Lions star Derek Quinnell at an Aberavon Sportsmen’s Inaugural Launch recently.
Dr Francis said,
‘I was very pleased to attend the Aberavon Sportsmen’s Inaugural Lunch in support of local sporting organizations. Chris O’Callaghan’s initiative is an excellent development and was well supported.
I took the opportunity to present Derek Quinnell, the guest speaker with a photograph taken in 1971 of my late father Dai Francis when he presented miners’ lamps to all the Welsh members of the successful British Lions team which had recently won the Test series in New Zealand.’
